My Story

From One Employee to Eight Figures — And Every Lesson In Between

I didn't start with money, connections, or a business degree. I started with a decision: I was going to build something, even if I had to learn every piece of it the hard way.

That was more than 25 years ago. Since then I've built and run real estate businesses across nearly every asset class there is — single-family homes, small apartment buildings, commercial property, fix-and-flip rehabs, and private lending. For the last 17+ years, most of that has centered on Huntsville and northern Alabama, a market I've watched grow from the ground up.

But real estate was only ever half the story.

Learning the Hard Way

Somewhere in the middle of buying, rehabbing and closing deals, I found myself doing what a lot of entrepreneurs do without realizing it: building a job instead of a business. I grew one of my companies from a single employee to sixty, and I learned — the expensive way — that hustle alone doesn't scale. Revenue doesn't fix a business with no systems. More people don't fix a business with no process. And more hours don't fix a business that depends entirely on you.

Once I understood that, everything changed. I rebuilt my companies around systems, process and automation instead of around myself. That shift is the difference between owning a business and being an employee inside the business you built. I've lived both sides of that line, and I built my entire approach to business growth around never going back to the second one.

Beyond My Own Companies

That experience has carried me a lot further than my own businesses. For about 20 years I've run a real estate education company — building courses, seminars and software that teach new investors how to get started and scale. I've spent 17 years running a local real estate investor club in Huntsville, and I now consult with investor clubs all over the country, helping them build the same structure, engagement and consistency that made ours work.

Along the way, I've also worked directly with business owners across the country — and internationally — helping them install the systems, processes and automation their businesses were missing. Some were stuck exactly where I once was: doing six or seven figures a year but working harder than any employee they had. Others were just getting started and wanted to build it right from day one, instead of learning every lesson the hard way like I did.

What I Bring to the Table

Over 25+ years, I've built a skill set that goes a lot deeper than real estate:

  • Marketing & Digital Marketing — building the message and the media that gets a business seen and chosen
  • Sales Conversion & Lead Generation — turning attention into booked calls and booked calls into closed business
  • Funnel Building — designing the exact online path a prospect follows from first click to customer
  • Systems Integration & AI Systems — connecting the tools, tech and automation so a business runs consistently, without depending on any one person, including me
  • Branding — building a name and reputation people trust and remember
  • Wealth Building — using real estate and business ownership together, not one instead of the other
  • Local Club & Community Building — turning a local group of investors or customers into a real asset for a business, not just a mailing list
  • Real Estate Investing — buying, holding, flipping and lending, across every property type
  • Team & Leadership Development — scaling from one employee to sixty and knowing what has to be true at each stage
  • Business Operations & Process Design — the unglamorous infrastructure that makes growth survivable instead of chaotic

Where This Is Going

I know what it's like to start with nothing but a decision. I know what it's like to grow a company past the point where you can hold it all in your head. And I know, firsthand, what it costs a business owner when systems, process and automation are missing — because I ran a business without them before I ran one with them.

If you're building a business and you're feeling the weight of being the bottleneck in your own company — if growth feels like it's creating more chaos instead of more freedom — that's exactly the problem I've spent 25 years solving, first for myself and then for business owners around the world.

I'd like to hear where your business is right now and where you want it to go. If it makes sense, let's get a call on the books.
